How 14 Years as a Top Trader at JP Morgan Inspired Me to Create This Roadmap.

My name is Jody Samuels, and over the course of 40 years I’ve been an institutional trader, retail trader and trading coach. 

Over the past 4 decades, I’ve watched too many traders trip up over the same exact mistakes. 

I made these same mistakes myself until I implemented this fail-safe approach.

I discovered a simple way to make consistent trades, by taking losses when necessary, and being content booking profits even if I didn’t catch the whole move.  

This discovery happened through tracking my trades, being accountable, and having a benchmark to compare myself against.

Let me tell you how it all started… 

In the 80s, when I started trading the currency markets at JP Morgan, I had to prove myself as a woman on Wall Street. I was very good at my job, so I rose up the ranks quickly.  I became VP, and the first female GBP (British Pound) trader in the global banks.

I made very good money in the process, but it cost me. 

I had a front row seat on the roller coaster ride of trading in volatile markets. And boy did it take me for a spin. 

I rode fear and greed right to the brink of burnout. 

I stayed up all night, thinking and rethinking my next moves…

I neglected my family and friends, until my personal life was hanging by a thread…

I ignored my health, and even wondered about the long-term effects this caused…

To the outside world, I had attained remarkable success. However, the reality was that I experienced profound unhappiness. 

I just knew there had to be a more optimal approach to achieve comparable outcomes, one that wouldn't require compromising my well-being and time.

I was determined to figure out how traders could achieve success and not burn out. 

At that point, I had the privilege of meeting many different traders from all walks of life and all experience levels.  I realized that all the habits and mistakes they made in their trading, I had experienced myself but had learned to overcome them.

I also was fortunate enough to meet several successful institutional traders during my career.  And I wanted to do something to bridge the gap between the struggling retail traders and the institutional traders that had consistent success. 

The culmination of my research led to the publication of my inaugural book, "The Trader's Pendulum," published through Wiley.  

I wasn’t sure how the book would be received, but then the 5-star reviews started coming in. Traders spanning the globe expressed their gratitude for the publication, highlighting how the book served as a roadmap for self-improvement, enhanced results, and balance between trading and their personal lives.
